Copernicus Masters Regional Award Austria for EnergyFamily

Our project Energyhood has been awarded with the prestigious innovation award.

More efficiency is possible! Energy communities are an important step towards a sustainable, efficient use of locally generated energy. The EnergyFamily web platform makes it quick and easy to set up and manage energy communities.

But we want more! That's why we are working on a very special solution in our Energyhood project: satellite data is used to help predicting solar irradiation and thus solar energy production.

Thanks to this predictive energy management energy consumption in energy communities can be further optimized and the imbalance between production and consumption curves can be decreased.

With this project, we participated in the prestigious Copernicus Masters Award and were awarded the Regional Award for Austria.

The competition has been taking place since 2011 and honors innovative ideas around the use of satellite data from the Copernicus earth observation program - a joint program of the European Commission and the European Space Agency ESA.

The award aims to demonstrate the benefits and importance of satellite data for our daily lives.

Copernicus Masters builds on a network of high-level partners, including the European Space Agency (ESA), the German Aerospace Center (DLR), BayWa AG, Airbus, UP42, Portugal Space, the German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport, and 55 other European institutions and companies. The partner in Austria is the FFG.

More than 620 participants from 47 countries took part in this year's competition and submitted a total of 143 ideas.

At the Space Awards Ceremony at the NSE - New Space Economy Expoforum 2022 in Rome on December 1, we were finally able to receive the award and are very happy about the distinction!
